Socrative is a unique and effective alternative to traditional quizzing and testing, which provides an entertaining twist for students while being easy to moderate and control by teachers. It is an online, free quiz service that allows teachers to create quizzes in several formats, including multiple choice, short answer, true-and-false, exit ticket, and games that can be played both as teams, or individually by students. The website can be accessed either exclusively by a Google login, or by making an account directly with Socrates. Once you make your account you’ll immediately be greeted by the launch page, complete with your own starting access code, and a quick selection of the available quizzes. The website allows for a combination of answer types including multiple choice, True and False, and Short Answer. It also allows pictures to be added to enhance the depth of the question. The benefits don’t end there, Socrative also allows different ways for the quizzes to be administered, such as allowing students to take the quiz at their own pace, you can administer each question individually at your pace, and even set it to allow the students to skip, edit, and submit the questions on the quiz as they take it, all of these supplemented by the live results table, which allows you to see exactly who answers which questions, and what they answered.
Final Thoughts: Socrative is a unique and very capable tool to improve any classroom, and features just the right level of usability to be a viable resource in the classroom every day. PROS:
